This event in partnership with The Kid’s Foundation will benefit Columbia University’s Developmental Neuropsychiatry Center, which researches health programs to support kids with autism and other life threatening developmental disabilities.
New York, March 19, 2004 – Michael Baisden, New York Times best-selling author and host of the popular WRKS 98.7 Kiss FM radio show “LOVE, LUST & LIES” will host The KISS Cares Foundation kick-off fundraising event in celebration of National Autism Awareness month. Superstar radio personality Michael Baisden, who is the hottest afternoon favorite of many in the tri-state area and known in literary and entertainment circles as the “The Bad Boy of Literature” discusses love, sex, marriage, the other woman and of course, the cheating man on his daily show. Michael Baisden will be on hand live to discuss the topics that resonate most in relationships. The KISS Cares Foundation & The Kids Foundation will donate 100% of the proceeds to Columbia University’s Developmental Neuropsychiatry Center in support in its efforts to help autistic children national wide.
Music performances by Tony award-winning & Grammy-nominated singing sensation, HEATHER HEADLEY; and 2004 Soul Train Award nominee, DWELE. On hand to perform songs from her RCA debut album This Is Who I Am, Heather Headley will perform such top charting singles as “He Is” and “I Wish I Wasn’t” Virgin Records recording artist DWELE will be on hand to perform songs from his debut album SUBJECT such as his Billboard chart topping single, “Find A Way”.
For this exclusive evening, The Kids Foundation has partnered with WRKS 98.7 Kiss FM as it re-launches the award-winning Kiss Cares Foundation. Throughout the year, The Kiss Cares Foundation’s mission is to educate, empower and communicate the importance of improving the well-being of the community and their awareness on health related issues. Over the next few months, the foundation will focus on presenting a health awareness agenda centered on key topics such as Autism, Juvenile Diabetes, Asthma and Sickle Cell that affect the African-American youth community. In addition, The Kiss Cares Foundation is committed to partnering with several African-American men and women’s health initiatives throughout the community.
The Kids Foundation raises awareness about autism and other developmental disorders. Autism is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life. The result of a neurological disorder that affects the functioning of the brain, autism and its associated behaviors has been estimated to occur in as many as two to six in every thousand individuals.
