Company description::
Dr. Youxin Yang, MD, PhD, started her career in China and then advanced her education in France, where she won a prize from the Association for the Study of Pediatric Pathology in 2000 for her work on the WT1 Gene in Denys Drash Syndrome and Diffuse Mesangial Sclerosis. She came to the United States to do cancer research at Harvard Medical School in 2001 and has recently given an oral presentation called, “Genetic instability is an early event that occurs before changes in tumor suppressor p53 and APC during cancer progression in Barrett’s esophagus” at the 2004 95th annual meeting of American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) on March 29 in Orlando, Florida.

In her spare time, she loves creating art through painting and film. The prestigious Gallery of Espace Richilieu in Paris has twice featured her work in solo exhibitions. Dr. Yang’s recent work, available in book form at www.amazon.com, is a post-modern attempt to show the movement and beauty of human emotion shared between present and absent subjects. These pieces will be featured at the Wellesley Free Library from May 4th to 28th, and at the Cape Cod Community Media Center Gallery from June 4th to July 2nd. The Spirit and Passion Art Reception will be on May 15th (for hours/directions, see www.wellesleyfreelibrary.org) and again on June 12th (for hours/directions, see www.c3tv.org) at the above locations, respectively.

Her first film, The Music in Dream, in which she is the screenwriter and the leading actress, has aired on Jiangsu TV station in China in 1993. Feuille, also known as Leaf in English, is her second screenplay. The original version of Feuille (90 min) was shot in Paris in 1998. It tells a story of a Chinese female painter and a French female photographer who, together, experience conflicts dealing with culture and homosexuality. Even so, these characters share in the deeper aspects of human nature: honesty, generosity, and beauty. Their relationship is an intense drama of intersecting culture and humanity. The film aired on a Shanghai TV station in China in 1998, but in a modified, shorter version under the name Listening to the Rain (17 min). Youxin continued editing through numerous versions until the final feature was acknowledged through an honorable prize. Feuille won the Platinum Remi Award at the 37th WorldFest Houston International Film Festival on April 24, 2004.
