International Art Stolen Mexico
Bari, Italy, May 14, 2004.The artworks of American Artist Mattison Fitzgerald and Italian Simona Palmieri exhibiting in the International Biennale put on by ArtExpo at Solaris Observatorio in Michochan, Morelia, Mexico have disappeared.
The artists assume the work stolen. Fitzgerald says "You can't steal art, the essence, the love it is a curse on your soul when you steal what god has given
the artists to give the people in beauty. It is simply bringing a curse to your family when you steal art". Simona Palmieri says "She wants her art back!!!!"
Director Juan Pablo Arroyo said "He does not know where the paintings are." and "I do not know anything about them." Although Juan Pablo Arroyo has sent the Art Expo a wonderful image of Fitzgerald’s works hanging in the Solaris Observatorio with a
yellow stripe supporting the triptych 'Fuerza de Flores - Paz' or Power of the Flowers Peace.
Fitzgerald is the kid who in Golden Gate Park who taught the not then hippies to make flower chains for their hair there was a photograph taken. "The rest is
history." Fitzgerald Says.
Fitzgerald paints about healing and flowers often her works are to spread a huge message of healing and goodness on the planet a message she got in a near death experience. Fitzgerald has also only recently regained all her ability to walk as the accident interrupted her art career for several years.
Art Director Luca Cruci has run International Biennales all over the world and has several new ones schedule in the upcoming calendar. Cruci says "I paid Juan
Pablo for the safe keeping and return of the works." and "I have never had a problem in the past with the return of artworks or ethics this is a sad day for Mexico."
Simona Palmieri is an emerging international artist who paints and does film. Her works like Fitzgerald’s are sought after and both these artists have been
receiving much acclaim internationally.
Fitzgerald also said "It is hard when a series of paintings on Peace, I see as a message to the world from the American people is taken during a time of war. The paintings are meant to bring love, energy and solice to all people during a very emotional time."
Anyone with any information on the location of these artworks is asked to contact the FBI in New York City, Lynn Chaffine Art Agent Specialist 202.324.4192.
